Meet the Team: Katey Yang

Tell us about yourself.

Born and raised in China, I have been living in the U.S. for about 11 years. I started being a global citizen when I obtained my MBA in Arizona where I met friends all over the world. My passion is always on higher education and helping international students to realize their dreams of studying in a global context.

Tell us what you were doing before you came to NC State/GTI.

Before joining GTI, I worked at Florida International University, supporting international students to study at business programs in the U,S, and assisting with partner collaborations in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to entering into higher education, I worked in Marketing and Sales management in FMCG both in China and in the US.

Tell us what you do in a few sentences.

I recently joined GTI as Program Specialist, assisting to develop and implement academic programs and providing support for program management. Last year a new member joined my family, my baby yay~. I cherish this new life as well as my new life in NC.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love traveling around the world to explore food and culture diversity. I have been traveling to Caribbean islands, Mexico, Cuba and Japan. I like hiking, and I’m a foodie.

What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

I believe in UFOs. I watched almost all documentaries that recorded their footage. I also like to watch documentary of ancient civilization, legends and mystery.

What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?

Northern Europe such as Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland.
