Meet the Team: Chanelle Gobena McArthur

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Chanelle, and I’ve been with the GTI at NC State for just over a year! I previously worked with the GTI team as an intern in 2018 after participating in a student experience during the summer of 2017!

Tell us what you were doing before you came to NC State/GTI.

I was studying geospatial information science/technology and working in finance.

Tell us what you do in a few sentences.

I primarily work on online programs for international students, including the GEARS program. The GEARS program pairs students with mentors at NC State and our partner universities. The program facilitates research experiences for undergraduates while providing opportunities for mentoring professors to train upcoming researchers while internationalizing their work!

What do you like to do outside of work?

Anything where I can learn, create and explore 🙂

What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

My favorite movie and book genres are science fiction and fantasy.

What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?

Probably somewhere with a semi-arid climate because I spend a fair amount of time trying to overcome (unsuccessfully!) humidity 🙂
