Global Trends in ELT
The global landscape of English language education is evolving faster than ever. From the rise of AI and social media to new shifts in how students learn, the classroom is constantly being redefined. At NC State, we know that staying ahead requires more than just keeping up. It requires a commitment to action.
Many experienced teachers find it challenging to navigate today’s digital tools and modern methodologies. While traditional conferences and workshops offer value, they aren’t always accessible, affordable or timed for your immediate needs. We’re bridging that gap, connecting educators with practical, high-impact resources that turn modern challenges into classroom opportunities.
We don’t just talk about the future of education; we build it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Program FAQs
Who should enroll in these courses?
These courses are designed for experienced English (EFL/ESL) teachers working in international contexts. We welcome educators from public and private institutions who teach at any level—including primary, secondary, post-secondary, and adult education.
While current education students may enroll, please note that course discussions and exercises assume a baseline of professional teaching experience.
Is there a minimum English proficiency requirement?
Yes. These are professional development courses conducted in English, not language-learning courses. To fully participate in discussions and get the most out of the curriculum, participants should have advanced English proficiency.
How do I choose the right course for my teaching level?
While our strategies are broadly applicable, some courses may focus on specific age groups or proficiency levels. We recommend reviewing each individual course description carefully before registering to ensure it aligns with your specific classroom needs.
Will I receive a transcript or academic credits?
To keep enrollment affordable, these courses do not offer transferable academic credits from NC State. Instead, they provide high-impact professional development.
How do I earn a certificate?
Participants who attend 7 of the 8 sessions, engage in activities, and pass a brief final quiz will receive a Certificate of Completion. If you complete five or more courses within a designated period, you are eligible for a Digital Badge to showcase your expertise.
How much do the courses cost?
In 2026, each eight-week course is $75 USD = less than $10 per session. We aim to keep costs low to cover instructor salaries and program expenses, making expert training accessible worldwide.
Do you offer scholarships or group discounts?
While we do not offer individual scholarships, we provide a 25% discount for groups of 10 or more sponsored by schools, government agencies, or organizations. Contact us to arrange a group payment.
What is the cancellation policy?
To keep overhead low, we do not offer refunds. However, if you notify us at least one week before the first class, you may:
- Transfer your fee to a different course in the same session.
- Defer your registration to the following session.
- Gift your registration to a colleague.
What is the workload and time commitment?
We respect your time as a working professional. There is no “busy work” or heavy testing. While we provide optional resources for those who want to go deeper, your primary commitment is the weekly 90-minute session.
What if I miss a class?
We understand that schedules change. Instructors record each session, and you can watch the recording synchronously as outlined in your syllabus. Recordings are intended for occasional use and are not available for permanent download.
What if the content feels too easy or too difficult?
Our participants have diverse backgrounds. We design courses for experienced teachers with strong English proficiency. Please review course topics carefully to ensure they align with your interests and professional level.
When will I receive my login information?
You will receive an email approximately one week before your first class. This will include your login credentials, syllabus, and instructor contact information.
Can I take a course offered in a different time zone?
Yes. You are welcome to register for any region if the schedule works for you. Joining a cohort in a different part of the world is a great way to gain a new cultural perspective on teaching.
Can I share my registration link?
No. Registration is for one participant only. Sharing links or hosting “watch parties” is prohibited and may result in removal from the program without a refund.
