Nagoya Ryugaku: Cultural Activities

NC State students, we invite you to join in classroom, travel and service activities!

GTI will host 19 visiting students from Nagoya University for 3 weeks in September. As part of their program for learning about US American university and community culture, these students will learn about volunteerism in the USA, observe typical classroom culture, and will explore the NC coast. We invite interested NC State students to share in these experiences!

Come meet and mingle with our Japanese undergraduate student guests from Nagoya University! Refreshments will be served. This is a free event! Register here.

Classroom Opportunities

Join Japan Center Director Jonathan Brewster’s 2-part cultural workshop comparing and contrasting Western and Eastern cultures, in general, and Japanese and American cultures, specifically. There are 10 open slots for each session for NC State University students who might be interested in sitting in on one or both of these workshops. The first will occur on Tuesday, September 3rd and the second on Monday, September 9th; both lectures shall run from 2:00-3:20 PM and be hosted at the GTI offices in the Venture IV building on Centennial Campus.

Coastal excursion

On Saturday, September 7, Nagoya students will explore some parts of the NC Coast at the Outer Banks. Transportation provided, but meals should be paid by students. Register for September 7 at 7:00 AM.

Service OpportunitY

Join our group in cleaning up Hillsborough Street as a project for the 9/11 Day of Service. Lunch provided. Register for 9/11 at 7:30 AM.
